My name is Naomi Kohl, and I am excited to join the RISE Kohyang Middle School family as the Visual Performing Arts Specialist. This will be my fifth year as an Arts Specialist, and hold great expectations for our students and our arts program. I look forward to providing our students with interdisciplinary arts education, as well as opportunities for school wide performances, and fine arts exposure.
This past winter I completed my graduate work at the University of Southern California, earning my Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership and Advanced Instruction. In 2007, I completed my undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University, earning my Bachelors of Science in Arts Education.
Pottery and clay work is my favorite art medium, but I also enjoy watercolor painting and landscape drawing. I studied Asian Arts extensively during my undergraduate program, and look forward to integrating historical and cultural art perspective to my arts program at RISE. All of my students maintain a portfolio of work for the school year, and at the end of the year portfolios go home giving parents a glimpse of the student's progression of work.
This is going to be a great school year, and I look forward to meeting all our students and their families!
